Snow day. Came out to the shed, cleaned up my desk, got some inking done on a Wandering Cities drawing, and updated a few things on the website.
Work has still been tough and the past two months maybe were the hardest I’ve ever had to work at my job. No fun but we got our work done, completed our project and started a new one this week. I’m thankful for the work and love the people I work with so it could be a lot worse. I’ve been thinking about a saying from Marcus Aurelius, that we are like dogs tied to a cart and we get to choose whether we want to resist and be dragged along or to trot along side happily. I’ve been trying to choose to trot. That said, I still want to see if there are some things I can do to restore some balance in my life. So, that will be focus of mine for the upcoming year.
Creatively, my “Wandering Cities” project with Will Davies got funded on Kickstarter in October so we get to work on that for a few months and make something cool! I’m really excited about this! Will and I have a lot in common creatively but our skills are different so we compliment each other in a cool way. Anyway, I am going to keep the artwork on this under wraps so it’s more of a surprise when it comes out.
My DnD group started a new campaign using the Scum and Villainy system and I am back to being a player and focusing on doing a few drawings here and there for the campaign. My buddies Kevin and Adam are sharing GM duties and trying to focus on more RP, more open ended and less min/max/meta-gaming BS. After 2 sessions, I’m still learning the rules, but so far it’s been fun and its great to be back hanging out with pals on Tuesday nights.
I’m back to running and focused on taking it slow to prevent my plantar issues from coming back. Resisting the urge to set wild goals… Koli and I are doing a jingle bell 5k next weekend. Small, attainable goals for now.
