Quick post for Sunday night to wrap up the week and look forward to the next one. Times are still hard in the federal contracting world and next week will be another tough one for my company as we are doing another layoff starting tomorrow. I think I will be ok but it’s still stressful.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to manage the seemingly endless stream of negativity and chaos, and been reading about the Stoics. There is some really good stuff in their writings around worrying only about the things we can control, and I’ve been thinking about that a lot. Kind of similar to the Serenity Prayer which has been a favorite of mine in the past.
So, like I said I am fine (and will be fine no matter what) BUT, in the spirit of controlling what I can control, I’m going to try and keep my phone in another room and spend some time in the real world for a few days. Looks like the season finale (?) of the Gilded Age starts in a few minutes so I’m headed in to make a cup of tea and watch with Danette. Take care 🙂
