The last few years, over the winter I would start getting cabin fever, and by February, I’m spending all my time watching gardening videos on youTube. This year I never got the bug – probably due to how busy I’ve been on my Wandering Cities project and day job stress. Well, as spring arrived and things started growing in the garden, the bug bit me again, and now I can’t spend enough time out there. I think the inciting incident was seeing some wine cap mushrooms pop up after a hard rain.

I actually seeded mushrooms last spring in my mulch and they never fruited so I kind of forgot about them but apparently they were there, waiting and growing and now here they are!
Dug my bonsais out of hibernation last month and have been starting to trim the spring growth a few trees at a time. Here is a maple I dug a few years ago from my secret spot and have been mostly letting it grow in an old nursury pot. The pot is shot at this point, so I also decided to repot it. AND maybe stupidly I decided to really go for it and pot it into an empty bonsai pot I had under my potting bench.
I think it looks great now but knock on wood that it lives.
